Camera/Lens Cleaning & Disinfecting

COVID-19 Cleaning and Sterilizing

These are certainly unprecedented times right now and the world is changing every day, along with the precautions and procedures we use in our lines of work.
However cleaning and disinfecting gear has always been a staple service we have provided at Paramount Camera Repair.
We have always disinfected cameras and lenses during our cleaning procedures with 70% and 90% Isopropyl Alcohol. We also use UVC sterilizing for neutralizing the spread of spores and fungus when cleaning internal elements of lenses that have has growth on them.
The use of UV sterilization, or ultraviolet germicidal irradiation, has been found to be extremely effective. Sources of UV sterilization can kill over 99% of viruses, bacteria, and fungi in an extremely short amount of time.
With the mounting demand of Frontline and EMS services requiring safe and clean photography equipment to use, we have streamlined the process and made some service adjustments to better serve our community and all of Canada and the United States.

The Disinfecting Process for Cameras and Lenses

Isolation:
Cameras and Lenses are isolated to a workbench with a Laminar Flow HEPA Hood and unpacked. Gloves, brushes and cleaning clothes are one-time use and disposed of between each cleaning.

Cleaning:
Cameras and lenses are scrubbed with a proprietary cleaning solution consisting of plastic-safe cleaners, bleach and 70% Isopropyl Alcohol. Every corner and crack is scrubbed with a variety of brushes and clothes, disposed of after each use.
A final cleaning of all surfaces is done with 90% Isopropyl Alcohol.
No part of your cameras finish will be damaged in any way from any of our cleaning procedures. After years of Camera and Lens cleanings we have the perfect blend of cleaners to safely clean, disinfect and polish your gear to get it looking like new again.

Sterilizing:
Equipment is placed directly into a UVC Germicidal Box to attack any remaining spores, germs, viruses or bacteria. Although UV sterilization is only 99% effective, it just an added measure we are taking to try and provide the most sterile and complete cleaning possible.

Rest:
Cameras and Lenses are then left to rest in a freshly disinfected box for 24 hrs before packaging to allow any remaining virus that may have survived, time to die.

Packaging:
Cameras and Lenses are individually packed into Vacuum Sealed bags, wrapped in bubble wrap and packed for return shipping.
